The Yummiest Pumpkin Butter Ever!


The Yummiest Pumpkin Butter Ever! It tastes like pumpkin pie in a jar!  Simmer creamy pumpkin puree on the stovetop with fresh orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.  Add some vanilla extract and minced candied ginger off the heat, and it’s ready!  It’s perfect for spreading on toast, layering with yogurt and granola, stirring into oatmeal, or even over ice cream!  Make some extra batches for holiday gift-giving, too! 



 29-ounce can pumpkin puree {not pumpkin pie filling}

1 + 1/3 cup light brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 cup fresh orange juice

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoons ground cloves

1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/41/2 cup minced candied ginger, optional


  • Combine everything except the vanilla and candied ginger in a medium saucepan.
  • Cook over medium-low heat for 20-30 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent the mixture from burning.
  • When the butter is steaming and thick, remove it from the heat. 
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and minced candied ginger, if using.
  • Set aside to cool.
  • Transfer to jars or storage containers.
  • The butter will keep for about 14 days in the refrigerator. Or, freeze in individual small jars for up to three months!


  • Spread the butter on toast or muffins!
  • Enjoy it layered with yogurt and granola!
  • Stir it into your morning bowl of oatmeal!
  • Spread it on a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich!
